Fair Countess 6 - wonderful week away

点评：We have just had a glorious week on Fair Countess 6, arrived at NBD Wroxham a little early but we knew there would be plenty to do if the boat was not ready, we signed in with the reception team who spoke to the boat team - the wipers were not wiping and needed a quick fix so we headed into Wroxham to explore Roy’s Toys (not to be missed if you have kids!) and Angling Direct for maggots (They lasted 5 days from there! So so impressed!)
When we returned with coffee and ice cream we sat in the shade outside and watched the big tour boats coming and going, we were given a lovely jute welcome pack with prosecco, a guide book, map, biscuits, tea, coffee, milk and a slab of flapjack! Really nice surprise ❤️.
When our boat was ready we drove round to the loading/unloading area and were shown on board, a member of staff (I’m so sorry I can’t remember his name!) gave us our life jackets and took us out to give us touch of the boat, controls, safety briefing etc.
After a short trip and mooring practice we came back in, stern moored the boat ( I hate this, feels so counterintuitive to keep the wheel locked in one position!) we loaded up, parked the car and set off.
We haven’t been boating in years and were super impressed with all the modern conveniences! 3 pin sockets, TV DVD! Bedding and towels all included made it so easy. The kids had the front bedroom right up in the bow with plenty of storage and a little en-suite, we had the rear cabin with again - plenty of storage and another en suite.
Whilst the top deck sofa converts into a big bed (we frequently made it up as a day bed for board games or film night) I don’t think anyone could ever actually sleep up there, for one - there are no curtains so zero privacy, no bathroom so you’d have to constantly knock on bedroom doors, but the main issue for us is bugs! Where the canopy slides back and forth (loved this!) and the front windscreen and rear windscreen can lie flat, there are bristles to ‘seal’ around the edges of the windows, except they don’t - there is a good inch gap between the glass and the roof at the edges of the front and rear so no night lights on or you attract mozzies, and two nights in the heatwave we were engulfed by small flying ants, they don’t bite or hurt and sadly we’re all dead by morning poor things - but still, I don’t really want them in the cabin with us so those nights we turned in early and retreated to our cabins where they couldn’t get in.
The broads are stunning, the wildlife amazing - I have never seen so many kingfishers in my life, once you recognise their call you hear and see them everywhere. No otters sadly but plenty of herons, buzzards, harriers, and the Ospreys at Ranworth (lovely day out).
Some items to note that surprised us: water, we filled up every day at first, convinced we had a leak, couldn’t believe how long it took to fill up, but pump was not behaving normally so we just accepted it. The last two days we did not fill up - and never actually ran out, however bumped into a family that did so be warned, fill up whenever there is water.
Pump outs: we visited Richardsons up near Stalham and took advantage of their marina and pumped out there, as we had two bathrooms we were rightly charged double, makes sense I just hadn’t considered it!
Fridge freezer is a small under counter job, we still managed to fit in two large ‘Cook’ frozen meals plus all the lovely fresh fruit and veg so we ate very well, kitchen was very well appointed only thing we lacked for was a French press!
The gas stopped working randomly one day but we were moored up so an engineer drove round to us and within 25 mins of me calling everything was back up and running again so big thanks to the team for that.
If like us, you are into your wildlife watching - bring a bottle of window cleaner. The clean team do not have time to clean all the windows as they turn the boats around between lets and they do have water/ splash marks. It takes you 20 mins but well worth a little effort.
We have been thoroughly impressed by both NBD (love the app and videos - we watched these with the kids and it really helped build up the excitement whilst helping us and them understand our responsibilities in terms of engine checks, how to moor etc.
We cannot wait to book again and would definitely have a Fair Countess model again, for a family of 4 it was the perfect size, easy to manoeuvre even without bow thrusters (we see you cheaters!) and went through bridges like Ludham with ease.

当我们的游船准备好后，我们开车前往上下客区，随后被领上了船。一位工作人员（很抱歉，我记不起他的名字了！）给我们发了救生衣，还带我们四处参观了一番。操作控制、安全说明等等。
经过一段短途航行和系泊练习后，我们返回码头，将船尾系泊好（我讨厌这样，把舵轮固定在一个位置的感觉实在违背直觉啊！）。接着我们装好行李、停好车，便出发了。
我们已经好几年没乘船出游了，这次被船上各种现代化的便利设施深深折服！三孔插座、电视和DVD播放机应有尽有！床上用品和毛巾也一应俱全，真是省心。孩子们住在船头的前部卧室里，那里有充足的储物空间，还带一个小套间浴室。我们选的是后舱，那里同样有充足的储物空间以及另一间带独立卫浴的卧室。
虽然顶层甲板上的沙发可以转换成一张大床（我们经常把它拼成日床来玩桌游或看电影），但我觉得没人能真的在那里入睡。一来没有窗帘，毫无隐私可言；二来没有卫生间，因此不得不频繁敲响卧室的门。不过对我们来说最大的问题还是虫子！就是那个顶篷可以前后滑动的地方（我们超喜欢这个设计！前挡风玻璃和后挡风玻璃都可以放平，玻璃边缘还有用来“密封”的毛刷，但实际上并不能完全密封——在前后的玻璃边缘处，玻璃与车顶之间都有大约一英寸的缝隙。因此如果打开夜灯的话就会招来蚊子。在热浪袭来的那两晚，我们被大量小飞蚁包围，它们不会咬人也不会造成伤害；可惜的是，第二天早上这些可怜的小家伙全都死光了——不过，无论如何……我其实并不希望它们和我们一起待在小木屋里，所以那些晚上我们都早早上床，回到自己的小木屋中——这样它们就进不来了。
那里的女性们美丽动人，野生动植物也令人惊叹——我这辈子都没见过这么多翠鸟。一旦你记住了它们的叫声，就会到处都能听到并看到它们。遗憾的是没有水獭，不过有大量的白鹭、雀鹰、鹞鹰，还有兰沃思湖上的鱼鹰（是个非常适合外出游玩的好日子）。
有些事情让我们颇感意外：关于水，起初我们每天都会去补水。我们确信有漏水现象，怎么都想不到加水要花这么长时间，但水泵的运行状态也不正常，所以我们也就接受了这一情况。最近两天我们没再加水——实际上水也从未用光。不过我们遇到了一个同样缺水的家庭，所以提醒大家：只要还有水，就赶紧加满吧。
关于抽污水：我们去了位于斯塔勒姆附近的理查森斯码头，利用了那里的码头设施来抽走污水。由于我们船上有两个卫生间，所以被收取了双倍费用，这也在情理之中，只是我之前没考虑到这一点！这台小型冰箱/冰柜是安装在柜台下方的，但我们还是成功在里面塞进了两大盒“Cook”牌冷冻餐品，还有各种新鲜水果和蔬菜，因此我们吃得相当不错。厨房里的设备非常齐全，唯一缺少的就是法式压滤壶！
有一天，燃气供应突然中断了，不过当时我们的船正停泊着，于是工程师驱车赶来。在我打电话后不到25分钟，一切就恢复正常了。在此要特别感谢工作人员的辛勤付出。
如果您也和我们情况类似的话……如果你喜欢观赏野生动物，不妨带一瓶玻璃清洁剂。清洁人员没时间把所有窗户都擦干净，因为他们需要在每次租赁间隙迅速调转船头，因此窗户上总会留下水渍或水痕。虽然擦拭需要20分钟左右的时间，但这点努力绝对是值得的。
我们对NBD的服务印象极为深刻（我们超喜欢他们的应用程序和视频——我们和孩子们一起观看了这些内容，它不仅激发了大家的游玩热情，还帮助我们和孩子们了解了进行发动机检查等各项注意事项。我们迫不及待想再次预订，肯定会再选“Fair Countess”这款船型。对于四口之家来说，它的尺寸再合适不过了；即便没有船首推进器也极易操控（我们可都看到那些使用作弊手段的人啦！）。它能轻松通过诸如卢德姆桥这样的桥梁。
