点评:The Templo Mayor Museum is an absolute must-visit. When we arrived, a man at the entrance was offering guided tours, but we decided to explore on our own—and that turned out to be a great choice. The exhibits are clearly labeled, making it easy to understand the history without a guide.
We actually spent two hours just exploring the outdoor ruins before even entering the museum itself. Unfortunately, I had taken a fall earlier in the trip (not at the museum) and was dealing with two injured knees. To make things more challenging, the elevator was out of order. I managed to climb to the first section but had to skip the remaining seven rooms. Even so, we still spent about two hours there—it’s a fascinating and extensive site.
On our way out, the designated handicapped access areas were closed, and we were faced with more stairs. Thankfully, a kind guard at an emergency exit took pity on us and allowed us to exit without having to go all the way down to the lobby and back up again.
The site is located right next to the Metropolitan Cathedral of Mexico City in the Zócalo, making it easy to combine with other historic highlights in the area.
