点评:This is one for garden lovers. it is about 2 km and 45 mins walk. It contains some interesting water features with pretty bridge and artistic objects as well. There are two sections: a mature garden created in the 1960s with a water theme then the other a walk past a lake and through more natural native forests going up to the the Seven Stairs to Heaven waterfall. I'm not a 100% sure but I think that last section is one way as we could not find another path back. We did get a confused with the the directions for getting from one section to the other.
I'm not sure that early March is the best time to visit. The water lily ponds would be the main attraction and I think their main flowering time in New Zealand is September/October to March/April. We were therefore at the end of the season and (though in early March) I only saw one water lily flower. We did see blooming hydrangeas, belladonnas and a yellow flower I didn't recognize. Lots of ferns and remarkable trees.
It is a bit of a road trip to get to here from the main road from Coromandel Town to Auckland. The road is one-way along a stream and very narrow. However, I recommend to go that way rather than the gravel road over the peaks if you have an ordinary car. As the owner of this facility said - it only get's worse from here on. There is a café but also picnic tables which we used. The host was very helpful and informative. Worth the entrance fee.
