Family Day Special Train Experience
Waterloo Central Railway的点评
点评：We did the Waterloo Central Railway “Heritage Train” on Family Day and it was honestly very underwhelming, especially for kids. We were 4 families.
The website photos/description felt misleading.
1) The ride was advertised as 2 hours, but ours was about 1.5 hours (not complaining it ended early, but it didn’t match what was sold).
2) The train moved extremely slowly (around 10 km/h), and there were no announcements, trivia, music, or anything to make it engaging. It simply went one direction and then returned the exact same way.
3) It is winter, so no real scenery was expected, but some good speed and distance would have covered for it but no, it was a lazy effort.
4) There was NOTHING like this description---"Extra-special activities will even be available aboard the train for children"
5) The website description said this--"After your train ride, we encourage you to take the short drive to the Village of St. Jacobs for more Family Day activities, shopping, and more!" Guess what, the whole place was shut for Family day. This is like misdirecting the customer.
We drove an hour each way for this, and since St. Jacobs Market was closed for Family Day, there wasn’t much else to do nearby—so the overall day felt like a letdown.
I wouldn’t recommend this experience for families with kids older than 10Y unless you’re specifically into slow scenic rail rides with minimal onboard programming or anything tbh.
