点评:I did a private free walking tour with Giorgi, a colleague of Zhana (who, by the way, was wonderful in helping me organize this tour at the very last minute — just three hours before!).
I only had a few hours in Gori, and this two-hour tour was perfect to give me a better understanding of the city and make the most of my limited time there.
Giorgi is a historian — very knowledgeable, friendly, and modern — who offered a fascinating overview of Georgian history, its Soviet past, and how it continues to shape the country today. I had already been in Georgia for a week, and this tour really helped me connect the dots.
Gori also has some very interesting monuments that would have taken me time to find on my own — my favorite was the last one of the tour, but I won’t spoil it.
Overall, a great experience that helps you appreciate Gori in the best possible way, I would definately recommend it.
