点评:One of the interesting things to see at Residence Castle (Residenzschloss) is the late 18th-century Baroque Castle Church which was beautifully created by Franz Joseph Roth.
The lower level of the church can be access freely from within the front courtyard prior to entering the palace and museum. Opening times are 9am to 5pm (Mon to Sat), 12pm to 5pm (Sun). For those who visit the museum, included in the ticket price is access to the second level where you can view downward into the church main nave.
The exterior of Castle Church is a nice example of Southern Germany Baroque architecture, the interior is a barrel shaped single nave with a nice main altar at front. The highlight for us was seeing the detailed and charming ceiling fresco "Glorification of the Cross in Heaven and on Earth" by Munich court painter Johann Nikolaus Stuber (1735).
We enjoyed spending a few minutes visiting the Castle Church prior to entering the main museum at Residence Castle. Also appreciated the upper floor views into the church during the museum visit.
