点评:Honestly, this was one of the most disappointing parts of our trip to Sri Lanka. We did the stilt fishing as part of a tour, but it felt like a complete tourist trap.
We arrived in a tuk-tuk and there were four men sitting in a little hut waiting for tourists. My wife was pulled by the arm towards the stilts, which was quite funny at the time, but then she was told to stand on one of the poles, given a stick and four men climbed onto the stilts around her and pretended to fish. I was told to take some photos, which I did.
Afterwards, they asked for Rs.10,000, which is around £25. We had no idea we were going to be charged anything like that just for taking a few photos.
It may be a genuine fishing tradition, but what we experienced certainly didn’t feel genuine. It felt very staged and set up for tourists, followed by a demand for money afterwards.
I’d personally avoid it. If you do decide to go, make absolutely sure you agree a price beforehand, because we felt like we’d been taken for a ride.
