Cheap but not safe

点评：We booked SUPs and were quite shocked at the terrible life jackets options and the lack of a safety briefing on a working canal.
Our 9 yr olds were the only ones who had to wear life jackets. Initially the ones given to them were far too big with the young girl in charge telling us the jackets were fine. They were not fine, they would have gone over the children's heads in water and created a real drowning risk - we insisted on smaller ones which were given but they were not tightened or checked by staff (fortunately, our 9yr olds swim very well for their age and are frequently around water but we never take that for granted)
The older children, 13yrs, were told they didn't need life jackets but we insisted they wear them as we know what cold water shock and murky water confusion can do to a person.
The kids were then launched on SUPs on a working canal without any form of briefing - not told what to do if a canal boat wanted to pass, what to do if they fell into difficulty, how to manoeuvre or steer the craft. Staff didn't seem to have an awareness of who had launched, so if a craft didn't return they would not realise for a long time or know who was not back.
We are experienced paddle boarders but with that comes respect for the water and an understanding of how easily an emergency can occur.
Only good thing was the price!
