点评:This was the final stop on our Arikok UTV tour and they really did save the best for last. The rugged eastern coastline of Aruba sets up for lots of cool wave-and-wind-gouged pockets of rock shots, but secure your camera/phone in a waterproof bag or there’s no reason to take it. You’ll get wet, for sure, but the opportunity to snap the choppy ocean water slamming against the outer rim of the pool presents itself often; it’s no Old Faithful. My phone didn’t make it under the spray, technical issues, so these are shots leading up to, somewhat in, and around Conchi.
There is a short but potentially challenging walk downhill, winding through mostly natural terrain, leaving the parking area and traversing the rocks towards the pool. Once you’re at the bottom, set the things you don’t want to get wet aside and grab a helping hand, since everyone is scoping out their own path to the water while helping the less confident in footing on their way through.
Conchi is not for simply watching and wading; hold ya’ kids, hold ya’ wife, this watering hole is more like a fumarole. Very regularly, the waves crash against the craggy outer sides of the natural pool, creating giant plumes of salt water and spilling over the edge and into the pool, bobbing everyone like rubber duckies. There are several spots to ‘cliffdive’ off the edge of the smooth rocks, which tend to be slippery, so watch how others do it then plot your ascent.
