点评:A highlight of Sarawak. In fact, possibly the most famous attraction here where one could not have said to have come to Sarawak without coming here.
Semi-wild Orangutans in their natural habitat, this is a conservation center but the Orangutans seem at ease to have us humans staring at them enjoying breakfast. The Orangutans usually come out around 9-10am / 3-4pm for food. But a sighting is not always guaranteed, especially when it's the fruiting season where they can easily satisfy themselves in the wild.
So we were lucky to see Edwin. He's a 30 year old alpha male who seem clearly comfortable, in fact possibly enjoying all that attention, posing for us, even knowing to turn occasionally to cater to crowds on both sides, and just before he left, he even did a stretch which everyone cooing. The ranger throws him fruits from under the tree and he chews away at ease, and once he had his fill, he climbed upwards and into the forest beyond sight.
After the Orangutan feeding session, we headed further in to the Mini Gallery. Here we learnt a little more about the family tree of the Orangutans that live here.
