Rude treatment when we simply didn’t know the rules

点评：I was treated more rudely at The Boatyard Beach Club today than anywhere I can remember. My husband and I had wandered in from the far end of the beach and sat briefly in some chairs while waiting for our adult children, not realizing we had entered a paid beach club area. This was our first visit to Bridgetown and we didn't realize that paid chairs are the norm (there was also no signage indicating this). Meanwhile, our kids had come in from another entrance and had already told staff they were just looking for their parents. Instead of anyone explaining the situation, a staff member came over and abruptly ordered us out because we “didn’t have a wristband.” As we began putting on our shoes, he said “you need to leave fast.” The tone felt threatening and was baffling, given that he was directing it toward two clearly confused visitors. He didn't offer us the option to pay for chairs or purchase wristbands. We only learned about that after we specifically asked if there was a fee. What made the exchange even stranger was that it was a gorgeous beach day and many chairs were still empty. A simple, friendly explanation of the fee and what it included would have solved everything instantly. In fact, we likely would have happily paid for four chairs.
