Vallianou Square的点评
点评：Tuesday 4th August we walked along Lithistroto, the pedestrianised street in the centre of Agrostoli. From there we continued a short distance along Panagia Vallianou up to this Square, Platia Vallianou, the main Square in the Town
The large paved Square has been named in honour of Panagis Vallianos and it is also home to a statue of him, it sits in the top left hand corner under the shade of the trees.
He was born in Kerameies on Kefalonia in 1814 and was a wealthy 19th-century merchant and shipowner.
Around the Square there are a number of impressive buildings including the Ionian Plaza Hotel. The others are home to numerous bars and cafes with their outdoor seating along the pavement. We did actually sit in one of the cafes and watched the world pass by.
The Square is a popular meeting point for tourists and locals alike. It is also a social hub and venue for large events and gatherings.
At the time of our visit there were posters around advertising forthcoming music event, concert in the Square. There were also the remnants of a recent function waiting to be removed.
