点评:Monday 2nd February we walked from the Cruise Ship Terminal in Roseau to these Gardens.
It was roughly a fifteen minute walk, maximum, not difficult to find as there were signposts along the way.
The Gardens are a 40 acre park which are located at base Mourne Bruce.
They are predominantly a wide open space which is populated with mature, trees and bushes. At the time of our visit a number of them were in flower, creating a colourful splash. As well as a tourist attraction they serve a recreational space for walking, jogging and other activities. We did see a number of people sitting on the grass having a picnic.
The Gardens are rather sparse in places which these bear the scars from the hurricanes of 1979 and 2017. In fact there are the remnants of a bus crushed by a falling African Baobab Tree in 1979. It is referred to as David and Goliath (reviewed separately) and a nearby photograph on a board shows some of the devastation caused by the hurricane.
There is a pathway, Jack's Walk Trail, reviewed separately, that leads from the Gardens up to Mourne Bruce Garrison and it's Shrine. It starts by the Parrot and Conservation and Research Centre in the Gardens. It is a bit of a strenuous hike and takes a good 20 plus minutes, but worth it.
Morne Bruce Garrison stands on the top of cliff over 700 feet above sea-level.
For those looking for a more leisurely visit there were bus tours, which were rather colourful, the street train also came here.
