The highlight of my visit to Kew and a bucket list tick

点评：I had always wanted to visit Kew as I distinctly remember a trip to London from my home in the far South West of England, perhaps a school trip. As the coach made it's way into the outskirts of the city we looked across and could see the wonderful Pagoda in the distance, we were told that was Kew Gardens, from that moment I wanted to visit.
Many decades later I had the opportunity to make my first visit and take in the Orchid Festival. I was thrilled to find that although normally closed in March, the Pagida was open on certain days during the Festival.
There is an additional charge as it is owned and run by Historic Royal Palaces but the £4.50 was more than worth it.
The ladies at the base were friendly and helpful. A couple of intricate mechanical exhibits to explore on the ground floor too.
The 238 odd steps up the wooden spiral staircase were tough but you could stop on each floor, rest if necessary and read the snippets of information.
The climb was more than worth it, wonderful views even on a dull day. The skyline of Central London, across Kew on all sides, the list was endless.
Kew in the early Spring was wonderful but climbing the Pagoda was the highlight - literally.
