Finding your family's place in Scottish history - and making new friends

点评：My family and I went on a bespoke tour of the Scottish border with Armstrong Tours and had a wonderful time with our driver, Adam. He was so kind and knowledgeable and when our travel plans had to change last minute due to the March fire in Glasgow, he was kind enough to come pick us up in Glasgow rather than meeting us in Carlisle as originally planned (he actually let me know that he regularly picks people up in Glasgow and Edinburgh, if needed). We spent the whole day with him, going to sites that we definitely would not have been able to see with a bigger tour company. We weren't really sure what all was important to see for our clan (Little), so he took the time to put together a tailored experience based on his knowledge of the area so we could visit where our clan held land, where some of them tragically died, and to share stories with us of how they would have lived. Adam's interest in the history of the border is very personal to him and while he knows a lot, he loves to learn more from people he knows in the area and the people he meets on his tours. He puts a lot of care and concern into ensuring that his guests are getting the most out of their experience and that they are able to make personal connections to important historical sites--he really makes you feel like YOU are an important part of the history of the borders.
Additionally, Adam is just a great person to be around with a good sense of humor and a welcoming attitude to everyone. He does his best to make sure you're comfortable, he's very flexible and mindful of others' needs, and he is good at keeping conversation going. There was never a dull moment on our tour and we really appreciated getting to know him AND getting know more about our ancestors.
