点评:Grand Anse Beach has been a favourite destination of ours for years due to the lovely sand and clear waters. However during a cruise stop for Arvia in November we had the most awful experience. Coming back from the beach we opted to use the water taxi. We were asked to get into an already overcrowded boat with literally no room to sit down. The boat was not secured to the jetty and my husband put his hand out to steady himself as he was trying to get into the boat. The boat shifted and his hand was caught between the jetty and the boat resulting in an awful injury. The boat operators had no idea how to deal with an emergency and no medical supplies. There was even no radio for them to get us some help. My husband had to endure significant blood loss and pure agony for 30 minutes whilst the boat made its way back to the cruise terminal. On arrival my immediate concern was to get medical help so my husband didn’t lose his fingers - the boat operators were intimidating and demanded the payment for our journey before allowing us to leave!
On reflection these water taxis have no safety or concern for passengers and seem only interested in making money. The boats are overcrowded and no life jackets are available. The service is also significantly more expensive than similar water taxis offered on other Caribbean islands with much better equipped boats.
It’s a matter of time before there is a major incident experienced with these boats in Grenada. Please avoid and opt for a taxi by land to the beach!!
