Klein Bonaire - Great but not quite living up the hype

点评：We didn't actually set foot on Klein Bonaire having booked a catamaran snorkel tour that got us in the water near the island but not actually on shore. The beach looks lovely and is about the only large beach on Bonaire, so if that's what you are after take the water taxi over and enjoy.
While the catamaran tour was fantastic with great guides if we come back to Bonaire we will skip the tour and take the water taxi over to give ourselves unlimited snorkel time and some beach time too.
We were there Easter week so the beach and surrounding water were pretty crowded but there was still easily enough room for everyone.
I will say that while it still deserves 5 stars it didn't live up to the hype. Klein Bonaire wasn't my favorite snorkeling spot on the island and has lots of coral bleaching evident even more than other snorkeling sites we experienced on the northwestern shore of the island.
The water around the island is unique, since the island itself barely gets out of the sea you expect the surrounding water to be shallow, but not too far off shore it drops precipitously into the depths and our guide said it got over 1000 feet deep before getting back to the main island, which I still find hard to believe.
We did see the largest numbers of marine life here including a huge school of blue tang that must have numbered several hundred and the only barracuda I saw on the trip.
