点评:I visited Farmstrong Cidery recently with my small dog and, unfortunately, left feeling unwelcome despite an otherwise pleasant experience.
The positives first: my waitress was lovely, the food was good, and everything was going well until another family was seated at the table beside mine with two small dogs. One of their dogs barked at mine, my dog barked back, and both dogs immediately settled down. It was a brief, normal interaction between dogs.
A different server then approached my table and told me, "This is a no-bark zone" and "three barks and you're out." The tone and wording were surprising and, frankly, inappropriate. I initially thought she was joking.
What bothered me most was not the fact that staff addressed the barking, but how it was handled. I work in hospitality myself and understand that guest concerns sometimes need to be addressed. However, there is a respectful and professional way to do that. The neighboring table received no warning at all, while I was singled out despite the interaction involving both dogs.
After paying my bill, I spoke with the hostess to explain why I was disappointed. I wasn't looking for compensation—only to provide feedback. If a dog's behavior is genuinely disruptive, I fully understand being asked to manage the situation. What I don't appreciate is being spoken to in a way that makes me feel unwelcome.
Dogs are living beings, not robots. Even well-behaved dogs may occasionally bark. If a business does not want to accommodate that reality, that's their choice—but then they shouldn't market themselves as pet-friendly.
Sadly, because of this interaction, I won't be returning, nor will I be recommending the business to fellow dog owners. A little courtesy and better communication would have made all the difference.
