点评:Whilst I enjoyed the experience of seeing the orangutans and I applaud the work they do I came away feeling like I had been ripped off. I had a large lens and they wanted 1000 ringgit (200 euros approx) for me to bring it in. I travelled from the other side of the world to visit this place and considering the cost of living in Malaysia I felt this to be pure extortion. Of course I had to pay it, I'd come so far but when I gave him my credit card discovered it was cash only. No ATMs anywhere nearby so I had to hire a guy and drive an HOUR practically to Sandakan and back to get the money. I returned in the afternoon with the cash and asked since this was the full day rate and I missed the morning due to their inability to process credit cards could I come again the next morning.
The answer was a resounding no. I was so shocked that he actually expected me to pay again to come for half a day the next day.
"You need ticket, you must pay every day" was all he could say. Seems he was in charge and what would have otherwise been a highlight of this trip felt like daylight robbery in the end because I was booted out after about 90 minutes.
He could easily have chosen to be helpful and say "yes ma'am, you come again tomorrow we'll let you in with your big lens to make up for all the inconvenience our system caused for you yesterday" by just letting me through the gate. Instead his stubborn inflexible and extremely unhelpful attitude left me very disappointed.
