Old Town of Rhodes的点评
点评：The Old Town of Rhodes has a population of about 6,100 residents. The medieval walls, with seven gates, surrounding Old Town are about are about 2.5 miles. One of those seven gates is “Gate of the Apostle Paul.” My Greek tour was an enlightening religious education. Seems that the Apostle Paul was a traveler. He spoke to hordes in Athens from a rocky bluff, various visits to Greek islands and port cities in Türkiye.
Old Town Rhoes [and the separate Tripadvisor site Medieval City of Rhodes] originally was founded about 400BCE. The fortified medieval village was primarily constructed by the “Knights Hospitaller” [Order of Saint John] during the occupation from 1309–1522, when the Ottoman Empire [Turks] took control for more than two centuries. Old Town is a UNESCO World Heritage Site renowned as the oldest inhabited medieval city in Europe.
My tour was delayed by a month, originally intended for October. Instead, the tour company erred with the booking date and had me arriving November 10, 2025. I was disappointed thinking that November would be much cooler. Good for me, the guide said that October had been cold and unusually rainy. November was the warmest on record. Luck of the Irish☺
