A Special Visit to the Kalinago Territory

点评：You must visit this part of Dominica. I learnt so much about the history of Waitukubuli.
The grounds are beautifully maintained and we even got to have a mini dip in the Waterfall. Our Tour Guide Samantha spoke with warmth and enlightened my Mum and I with her knowledge i.e herbal garden, spiritual rituals practiced by the ancestors and some people up to this day, historical events that have taken place and geographical facts about Dominica. It was a pleasure learning from her.
Ways you can reach there (duration 45min to 60min drive) :
- Privately (taxi hire:costs approximately 250 to 300 EC)
- Publicly (hop on the local bus from Roseau-on the corner of a store called Beauty Wise near the Fast Food Reataurant KFC). Going there costs 12.50 per adult and when you finish your time at the Kalinago Territory, you can walk up to the main road and hop on a local bus back to Roseau (capital of Dominica) for the same price.
The journey has many windy roads so try have an empty stomach.
There are beautiful arts and crafts stores on site, clean restrooms, ample space to sit and take in the ambience and amazing scenery, also a restaurant is there that served only cold drinks when we visited. Normally they serve food.
Ticket Entry prices vary for locals and tourists. It’s very affordable. Always carry local currency or US Dollars.
It’s a lovely day out, I’d recommend leaving early by 8am and then returning by 1pm/2pm.
