Great views around the area, really enjoyed exploring the old Signal Sation and it's building

点评：Sunday 8th February we were on an organised Tour, Barbados East Coast Highlights Tour.
One of the itinerary stops was a visit to this historic and strategic Signal Station.
It is located in St George at a vantage point around 700 feet (213 metres) above sea level.
The Signal Station was built in 1818 and formed part of a chain of a number of signal stations strategically placed to gather information and provide defence information.
We climbed up the steps to the viewing station where we enjoyed the panoramic view of the surrounding area. It became pretty obvious why here was chosen as a lookout post.
This small room and well as those on the lower floor were filled with artefacts, furnishings, information boards and maps.
Once we climbed back down the steps we visited the rooms on the ground floor which included a toilet, sleeping area and kitchen. It has all been preserved and is now an interesting museum.
There were a number of old cannons dotted around the viewing station.
It was a great experience walking around this historic area, exploring it's building and enjoying the views.
Once we had finished walking around the station we returned to the bar, reviewed separately, before setting off on the next stage of our Tour.
There is an entrance fee to the signal station which was included in the tour price.
