Amazing monkey feeding, depressing and sad areas elsewhere
Barbados Wildlife Reserve的点评
点评:I feel quite upset at having to write this negative review as the part that we visited for, the monkeys was amazing.
We visited for the 11am feeding and arrived in good time. We explored the main wildlife reserve area and was heartbroken to see the birds in small cages, the caiman in a very small pond and snakes held in relatively small tanks.
Their exhibit about how Barbados monkeys are caught, anaesthetised, had their bloods taken and then sent to zoos or vivisection laboratories seemed to defend the practice. Surely somewhere like this should be making a stance against it?
The tortoises roaming a large area was good to see.
We then went down to see the monkeys being fed. We were there around 10 minutes before feeding time and you could see them
slowly approaching the feeding stations, before descending when the food was put down.
It was fascinating to watch them sort out their pecking orders. They came so close at times. We watched them for around an hour before they moved off into the surrounding woodlands.
If it wasn’t for their cruel practices with the other animals, I would have given the monkey feeding a 5*.
I’m sure that most people visiting the reserve aren’t there to see the birds and caiman, they are there for the one thing. I really wish that they would stick to that.
