Enjoy shopping, this is the place for you, lots of shops, bars and eateries with some traditional old buildings
Frontstreet的点评
点评:Wednesday 4th February we walked down this street which is one of the main thoroughfares in Sint Maarten. It is roughly ten minute walk from Philipsberg Cruise Terminal
It runs parallel with the Boardwalk and Great Bay Beach, with passageways leading off the Street down to the Beach.
The street is approximately 1.3 kilometres long and is lined on both sides by a plethora of different outlets. The majority are painted in pastel colours with vivid coloured awnings.
They include Duty-free stores offering a variety of goods such as jewellery, watches, designer clothing and accessories. As well as all that there are stores selling electronics, tobacco products, perfumes and so much more.
There are a number of eateries, bakeries, cafes, bars and Caribbean restaurants, visitors will go neither hungry nor thirsty on this street .
Additionally there are countless shops specifically aimed at tourists. These are filled with every souvenir, trinkets and spices imaginable.
As we walked along we did visit a couple of traditional architectural historic buildings. These included the Courthouse which was built in 1793, with the sculpture of Oualichi in it's grounds. We also saw the Methodist Church which was built in 1851.
We also visited the St. Martin of Tours Catholic Church which was nearby. All reviewed separately.
These old buildings were in stark contrast and a refreshing change to the recently built ones. They also offered some respite from the endless shops.
Don't fancy the exercise of walking down the Street, we did notice the Street Train passing up and down.
