点评:The Queens Staircase is a short walk from the cruise ship terminal, up a gentle hill past Princess Margaret hospital. If you are walking be mindful of the traffic, as there are some busy roads, and there are no pedestrian crossings or paths.
The steps are at the end of a cool tropical cutting, excavated out of the lime stone. Originally designed for access between the fort on hill and the town below.
A gentle falling water flow down one side creates a calm feeling, and the climb ( albeit slightly steep) is meditative and relaxing.
I’ve been on different days, and the best days to visit are bizarrely none cruise ship days, so if you’re a cruise passenger I’m sorry but you’re going to fight the commercial consequences and miss the calmness.
A cautionary note, the day I went the steps were dry, but I have been when they have been wet and slippery🤔
Certainly a place to dwell and absorb the history.
