点评：I'm not much of a nightclubber. Oh, I took my date at my high school's Senior Prom to Mr. Kelly's and I took several dates to the London House, host to many of the great jazz musicians of the 1950s and 1960s. I also visited B.B. King's Blues Club in Memphis. So here I am, at Kingston Mines, the oldest and continuously operating blues club in Chicago. Located at 2548 North Halsted Street, in the city's Lincoln Park neighborhood, it derived its name from the Kingston Mines Theatre Company founded by June Pyakacek in 1969 at 2356 North Lincoln Avenue in Chicago and named after Kingston Mines, Illinois, where the father of one of its actors worked. The company was acquired in 1972 by Doc Pellegrino, who converted it into a blues club and moved it to its current location in 1982. Pellegrino died in 2018. Today, his daughters Donna and Lisa run the club. Open from 6 p.m. to 2 a.m. on Thursday, 7 p.m. to 4 a.m. on Friday and Saturday and 5 p.m. to 1 a.m. on Sunday, Kingston Mines' motto remains "Hear Blues. Drink Booze. Talk Loud. You're Among Friends." It showcases blues music ranging from Delta blues to Chicago blues. Koko Taylor, Carl Weathersby and Magic Slim have performed here. Weathersby, Linsey Alexander, Eddie Shaw, Peaches Staten, Ronnie Hicks, Joanna Connor and Mike Wheeler are regular performers. The Rolling Stones performed at the club in 1978. A long-standing tradition is the Sunday night Blues Jam that is free to join and anyone can participate.
