点评:When someone tells you that you are going to the Everglades and looking over the sawgrass prairie dotted with cypress domes that you are going to simply walk into it with no trail, don't say "NO" or you will miss one of the most fun experiences in any National Park. Last spring we took 4 couple who had never been to the Everglades and did just that. While everyone was skeptical when I first told them about it, afterwards they all said it was the best experience of the trip. I knew it because I had done it 13 years ago with my family and a ranger.
Today, "Wet Walks" can be booked through the Everglades Institute in groups of 10 max. We booked our walk months in advance and greatly enjoyed our afternoon hiking to a Cypress Dome with our guide Albert. We saw all kinds of birds like Ibis and Spoonbill. However, the highlight was seeing two 7' foot alligators in the dome. It was an amazing experience walking through mud and knee-deep water in the middle of the Everglades. You required to wear closed toed shoes but also wear shoes that tie rather than slip-ons. One in our party lost her shoe in the mud.
Aside from this mishap it was an incredible experience that I could not recommend more. I have done it twice and it is one of the best experiences in any national park, that good.
