点评:My husband and I really enjoyed our time at the Sauer-Beckmann house. A very seasoned docent in period clothing gave us great information about the abundant garden, all from seeds from the 1910s. You won't believe how long the okra pods are!! And you can buy the seeds back in the gift shop which my husband did. Five turkeys and many chickens ran around the yard (also sheep) so it was fun to watch them go about their day. Another docent in the kitchen talked to us about the lunch he was preparing for the park staff -- sausage (made from farm-raised pigs and smoked there in the smokehouse which we toured), okra, and sweet potatoes. Another room held many, many jars of canned tomatoes, jalapenos, etc all raised there on the farm. The cotton plants were in bloom -- yellow and pink flowers -- and still had a few cotton boles in place and we saw a huge basket of harvested cotton. The other rooms were outfitted to reflect the times (bedrooms, etc). Well worth the time!
