The Ladder Tour Is a Step Above

点评：I cannot rock-ommend the Ladder Tour enough. This isn’t a “walk politely and look at rocks” cave tour…. this is a choose-your-own underground adventure. From the moment we started climbing, crawling, and cave-scuttling around, I knew this tour had ruined me for any other cave visit.
We climbed through different sections of the cave, walked out of a tunnel in total darkness (yes, pitch black, no thoughts just vibes), and scaled the historic CCC ladders to reach areas most people never get to see. Every few minutes felt like an Indiana Jones moment minus the boulder!
On top of the adventure, you’re getting stories that are just as wild as the cave itself: outlaw and robber lore from the Wild West, insights into the original peoples (the Hohokam) and actual artifacts that make the cave’s past feel very real. It’s part history lesson, part action movie, part “wow, humans have been here way longer than me.”
And it’s not just about the thrill, there’s a huge emphasis on conservation and why protecting these caves matters, which made the experience feel meaningful, not just cool (though it was extremely cool).
If you’re debating tours, I’m begging you, BEGGING YOU… do the Ladder Tour. Or be an overachiever and do both. But if you skip this one? That would be a mistake. I would do this again in a heartbeat and will absolutely be back. Say hi to Old Baldie for me!
