点评：Over the years, I've taken deep cavern tours among the stalagmites and stalactites. Each was a unique experience with each guide providing their take on the cavern. All previous tours included some information tied to the spectacular show provided by "mother nature." To begin with, I must admit that my days taking tours or visiting sites that require a bit of bravado are over. I am no longer the teen who sought the fiercest wooden horse on the carousel fully intend upon pushing myself far enough off the horse to catch the prized golden ring as we traveled round and round. To begin with, there are 71-steps down to the cavern opening at the banks of the Susquehanna River and handrails , for those needed a little support on steep stairways, are not consistently installed on both sides of the stairway. Once inside the cavern, visitors will find damp and dark conditions, not unlike other similar tours. Unlike those tours, the footing is challenging with not level walkway or path. Throughout the tour visitors will be asked to duck down through passageways, a challenge to taller visitors, especially when they have to duck for what sometimes feels like a long time least they hit their head on the jagged rocks above them. I count myself as one six-footer who stood up too soon. Our guide was affable and chatty pointing out not significant stalagmite or stalactite structure in relation to nature, but more as it related to popular animated movies and common small animals. We did get a brief history of the cavern, which was helpful, but nothing more that would have provided a greater insight into the property. During our 45-minute tour we observed many interesting and some extraordinary cavern features, but focusing on the surroundings while trying not to hit your head or slip on the rocky walkway diminished the appreciation of the tour. If you're someone who takes long walks on unfinished natural trails which would not be wheelchair friendly, then the tour will be just fine. Certainly families with youngsters will find much to enjoy at Indian Echo Caverns including the many farm animals and the beautiful peacocks on the surface. It's worth a trip if the tour matches your needs.
