点评:I visited this place when I was on a girls trip with some friends to Salem. As a huge horror fan I can honestly say that this was the best part of my entire vacation.
A small part of me wishes I had photos but they have a very strict rule against taking them so I didn't. It's definitely 100% understandable why they would not want you taking pictures. This is the kind of thing you got to go see for yourself. That is why I'm also going to try my best not to give any spoilers in this review.
If you do go make sure to stop and actually read the signs. I learned stuff I had never heard before about movies that I've watched over and over again. Some of the reviews complain that it's too short and I can almost guarantee you they didn't actually stop to read anything. The signs don't just tell you the plot of the movies that the different displays are drawn from. Every placard tells you some kind of behind the scenes moment like an accident that happened during filming or how certain special effects were done. Even if you're not a fan of horror, if you're at all interested in the actual process of making movies I think you would enjoy visiting.
Along one wall they have this giant collection of photographs that are autographed by actors and actresses in all kinds of horror movies. I'm telling you some of these autographs I would pay a fortune to have for myself. It was really cool to just spend a few minutes reading the signatures and the little messages written from all of these amazing people.
My only regret is not taking a little more time. I did go with a group of people who don't like horror movies but came along because they know how much I love horror. I asked them what they thought about it and based on what they said, if you're someone who scares super easy or you really really dislike horror movies you would probably be better off finding a different museum to go to. This also isn't the kind of place to bring little kids unless your kid loves horror movies.
As for me, I think I'll definitely be coming back to the museum by myself or with some of my friends who are horror buffs just so that I/we can spend a long time looking at all of the tiny little details.
Before we went in we actually got to talk to the owner of the place for a few minutes. It sounds like he's always getting some new stuff for his museum. I'm excited to see where this collection goes and how many more amazing things he may end up putting on display.
