点评:The cost was $299 for a Guided Summit Climb through the Mount St. Helens Institute. You have a group maximum of 10 and typically have to sign up months in advance to secure a spot. We signed up ~4 months in advance and trained every weekend for the September '26 Summit hike. We signed up for Sept 13 as the weather was supposed to be promising and we were taking the "Summer Route" roughly 8.5 miles RT. For the Sunday hike we received a message from our Guide Chris on Thursday, September 10th with the meet up information which was 6am at the trailhead. He left a phone number and email for questions before the hike. The weather turned for the worse on Saturday morning, which said Sunday morning to early afternoon would be "active snow, 30+ mph winds, near-freezing temps, and whiteout conditions, near zero visibility." We did not have the equipment to hike in snow/ice, neither did REI in early September. At least six members of our group left voice mails, and emails for Chris from Saturday early through evening. No responses at all to anyone in the group, and the concerns were all around safety. Literally 10+ message left for the guide we all paid $299 for to ensure a fun safe adventure. Even through Monday, still no responses, as I believe it's likely no one showed up, I know for a fact 6 of 10 didn't show.
