I’ll tell you exactly what you have done: you have spoiled the experience for visitors like myself who used to look forward to visiting Gasparilla Island every year when we were in the area.
It seems that someone thought it was a good idea to make the island so unwelcoming to visitors by removing the opportunity to park along the numerous side roads, leaving the only parking at the very top of the island. Unfortunately, the beach in that area is nowhere near as nice as the beautiful sandy beaches further down, and they also want to charge you another $3 for this privilege.
Having to pay $6 simply to drive around trying to find a non-existent parking space anywhere near the sandy beaches is, quite frankly, a complete waste of time and money.
