点评：My sister and I went on a road trip to Western Colorado and Northern, New Mexico in July. This is one of the many amazing places wegot to visit! As national parks go, this has probably less variety, but it is just breathtakingly, beautiful and different from any thing I’ve ever . Of course we stopped at the visitor center first and talked with the Ranger about hiking and scenic drives. This was at the south rimlocation. Unfortunately, due to heavy rains in landslides, the east portal access down to the Gunnison river was closed. And we didn’t want to doany backcountry hiking, which would’ve been on the north rim. There is a scenic drive, and out and back, on the south rim, ending at the Warner point hike which we did and it was wonderful with so much scenery. Easy to moderate. It’s hot in July. We brought plenty of water. Some of the stopping points on the scenic Drive are short hikes of 100 to 300 or so yards to get to the actual site. Each site and I believe there are 13 14, was unique and worth going to. There was a rescue of a climber while we were there at one of the scenic Dr. sites There was a Ranger there who informed us of what was going on to the best of his ability. The Mesa Verde helicopter rescue crew had to fly up to assist. That was a bit exciting and we just pray for that person and anybody else involved for their safety and recovery. We stayed at an Airbnb in Montrose, Colorado only a 20 min drive away and we brought our own snacks and lunch in a cooler. There is a water fountain and bottle filling station right outside of the visitor center. Also bathrooms there and at few of the scenic drive sites. Highly recommend visiting this special and unique national Park.
