Petroglyph Point Hike的点评
点评：In addition to being a great trail with excellent views (more about that below), I think that hiking it might just offer a small glimpse of what the people who lived here might have experienced. There are several places where you can easily imagine one of them peacefully taking in the view then, just like you are doing now. And then, of course, there are the petroglyphs, where you can feel the connection with those who lived here.
The trail offers a wide variety of experiences: narrow one-track footing aside steep drop offs, squeezing through giant cracks between rocks, foot steps carved into the rocks, steep sections, and rocky scrambles. In my opinion it's adventurous enough that when you're done you know you've had an experience to remember. In addition, when you first walk down into the canyon from the Visitors Center, you get a close-up view of Spruce Tree House, one of the larger pueblos in the park.
Some advice. Do as others have recommended, hike counterclockwise. That way, you do the hard part first and have gravity holding you to the slope as you navigate scrambles up. The second half, back to the Visitors Center along the flat creat, is easy, although there's little shade. So be sure to bring plenty of water for both halves. Also, note that the Park Service classifies this as a "moderately strenuous to strenuous" trail, and I'd agree. Although the loop is only 2.4 miles, and the elevation change is only 174 feet, there are a lot of ups and downs. So the cumulative climb is over 400 feet.
