点评:We arrived at 9 a.m and there were plenty of places to park. By the time we left at noon, there was a line of about 30 cars waiting to get in. Once you enter the park, it is a several mile drive to get to the parking lot. There are restrooms, a visitor center, and a water station right off the parking lot. We first did the Tower Trail (1.3 miles) which allowed us to see the tower a little closer and also read the signs that explain the history of Devils Tower. This trail is paved and took us about 30 minutes. Afterwards, we did the Red Beds Trail which is longer (2.8 miles) and that took us 1 hours and 20 minutes with total elevation gain/loss of 425 feet. The Red Beds trail is a mix of dirt and rocks with much of it is in the direct sun so be prepared for that. We did the trail counterclockwise (start by the outhouses where you enter the ramp to walk up to the monument) and we felt like that was the better direction elevation wise (more gradual ascent on the way back up). Be sure to look for climbers - they are fun to watch. You pay when you leave the park. Since we had just done the Badlands, we were able to put that fee towards an annual park pass so we only need to hit one more national park this year to break-even.
