点评：Just finished 7 day cruise on Discovery Princess - Whittier to Vancouver- with stops in Icy Strait Point, Juneau and Ketchikan. The Discovery Princess is a beautiful ship and immaculately maintained. The staff are very friendly and very helpful. Generally the food is very good and the two shows we saw were great.
But there were issues that soured my experience. They advertise 3 Main Dining Rooms. But only one is open for breakfast and it doesn’t open until 7:30 for breakfast. And if you go ashore on port days and want to come back on the ship for lunch there are no main dining rooms open and no special restaurants open. If you want lunch you have two choices. You can go to the buffet or go up to deck 16 for Salty Dog Grill or Slice Pizza. But in Alaska it’s too cold generally to sit on the pool deck.
We ate at O’Malleys Pub, Gigi’s Pizzeria, Crown Grill, Catch by Rudy and Sabatini’s Italian Trattoria. With a few minor exceptions the food was exceptional. But the main dining rooms and O’Malleys and Gigi’s should be open more.
Another problem were the elevators and general ship layout. Not just on embarkation day, but every day the elevators just didn’t work. Elevators would not stop when you called for one, but would instead pass right by your floor. Almost everyone who commented about the elevators was frustrated with the elevators. And to make matters worse the staff used the elevator lobbies for photo shoots. They would set up lights and cameras and backdrops almost completely blocking the lobbies. They also blocked the stairs for photos.
The other huge problem was the activities in the piazza. Several bars, Sabatini’s, Gigi’s, International Cafe, O’Malleys and even Catch by Rudy are located just off the piazza. When you are trying to eat and talk with your table mates the noise is a problem. They have loud games, Zumba classes, dance competitions and music within a space less than 30 feet in some places of dining venues. Don’t like that.
We bought excursions through Princess and in Ketchikan they left us standing in the rain 20 minutes after the scheduled time before we could get on the bus and get out of the rain.
