史特林酒庄的点评
点评：Napa Valley is well worth the tour whether you drink or not. The valley is perfectly flat making it obvious that it was the floor of an ocean. Volcanic mountains on one side and another type of rock on the other, giving both sides a different look and soil. This is why you see red wine varietals in the Napa Valley more than white. As you go north to Calisto it becomes more hilly. It’s such a contrast of textures. Along with endless vineyards, you see olive trees, conifers, palm trees and cactus. There is even Spanish moss in some trees. The buildings are as unique as their founders. Modern buildings, haciendas, Italian villas, English style Victorian mansions and a castle. First, I took the Sterling Winery gondola to the beautiful modern facility for an amazing tasting with Kiera. The view from Hilltop makes you feel like you are on top of the world. Since I was the only guest at the early tasting we had a lovely relaxing morning. She was extremely knowledgeable on every aspect of wine making from growing the vines to proper parings. I enjoyed all the wines during the tasting which is rare for me. Kiera showed me how different items on the charcuterie board affected and improved the taste. The wines ranged from a sparkling brut to a very nice library wine. In the end, I choose the Reserve Petite Sirah. Looks like I’ll be having wine for the next 3 days, since I can’t bring it on the plane. The self-guided tour was a nice walk, bring you inside and out. The views are not to be missed. Because it was self-paced, I got to meet several other visitors and staff. Everyone seemed to be having a great time.
