点评:The Botanic Garden was the perfect antidote to a couple of "heavy" museums we went to earlier in the day. Yes! Learning about history and how it shaped our nation, is so important. I left those museums with a sense of dread. It was refreshing to see and learn about plant life and be surrounded by beauty of nature in many colors.
It was great to roam through the different plant environments. We lucked out. We visited on a day that a plant native to Indonesia was in the process of blooming. It's the "Corpse Plant". The name comes from the odor that is emitted while blooming, to attract pollinators. The Botanic Gardens had this plant for eight years. This was the first time it was blooming and the blooming process lasts only 12 hours. It was quite thrilling, to say the least. It was wonderful to be in its presence at this moment in time and to learn from one of the Botanical Garden's delightful and informative educators.
Aside from this particular thrill, other areas, including the greenhouses and the plantings outdoors were well maintained and beautiful. I am grateful that the Botanic Gardens have a place by the mall in our capitol.
