点评:We walked around the huge Tar Pits, fossil Museum, LACMA etc. it’s too much ground to cover for seniors or toddlers. In the extreme heat, it’s fine to pop into the museum; but get ready for long lineups midday. We were turned away from the Academy Museum for (young) film buffs. The Tar Pits are a tribute to the Bronze Age that the oil business capitalized on; it’s partly outdoors so you get a closeup glimpse for free. Outside LACMA (education center), weekends are for mahjong players under shade/cover. On the other end, the “floating” rock makes for a free photo opp. It’s the closest to Fairfax, where Jewish challa & “Paris” bakery can be found at the so-called Original Farmers Market next to the Grove mall. It may not be worth it to visit this destination unless you’re arriving in the morning. To offset the cost and drive, you could rent scooters between places; or if the $18 lot is full, street parking is limited but you can try beside Wilshire at SAG/Starbucks parking garage—and get a discount by purchasing a cool drink first. Hop in line for the Academy Awards first, then the Excavator/film!
