点评:This was our 9th USA road tour and despite my great wish I could never before include Mt. Rushmore into any itinerary. Reason is obvious - it's in the middle of nowhere - around half the way between Seattle and Chicago, with nothing to see nor do from either direction.
This time we made it starting from Denver and including Yellowstone, Utah and northern Arizona in our 15 days mid West trip. Even now, from Denver as a closest big city it included long, pretty boring driving through Nebraska plains, but it was worth it.
We arrived around 4 PM and were instantly disappointed - not with the monument, but with weather. It was rainy, cloudy and misty - the monument was INVISIBLE, hidden in clouds with empty parking lot and no one inside - except tour buses I felt sorry for as they had no second chance. Though we intended to visit that day along with the night illuminations we skipped it.
We had our second chance in the morning - rain stopped during the night, it was only cloudy and later even little bit sunny.
Got there very early, around 8 AM and I strongly suggest that. First, you'll find your parking spot immediately, second more important - there're very few visitors at that time and tour buses didn't arrive yet. When we were leaving around 11 AM the place was packed, impossible to make a proper photo.
We stayed those 3 hours and that's an appropriate time to do all attractions:
- Walk the Flag avenue with all 50 state flags and Union joining date plaques,
- Take the iconic photo from the terrace,
- Do the Presidential Loop for different perspectives,
- Visit the Visitor center, watch the movie about construction as well the Museum,
- Visit well stocked and reasonably priced Gift shop.

- 沿着旗帜大道漫步,欣赏美国五十个州的州旗和联邦成立日期牌匾;
- 在露台上拍一张标志性的照片;
- 沿着总统环线漫步,从不同的角度欣赏美景;
- 参观游客中心,观看关于公园建设的影片,以及博物馆;
