点评:This is a suburb of Washington, DC and is famous for many reasons - the Georgetown University and all the embassy buildings are located here as well as Georgetown is the largest outdoor shopping district in the region. You can also enjoy restaurants, history, art galleries, culture and recreation, as well as a stroll along the water canal promenade. It was most likely named after King George II, though some believe it was named after the two men who first owned the land - George Gordon and George Bell. It was not named after George Washington, who was still a teenager when Georgetown was founded in 1751.
Visit the historical Martin's Tavern (since 1933) where you can see the JFK proposal booth. At the end of April, a three-day French Market was held here. Independent shops lined along Wisconsin Avenue, offering their products at street stalls. We didn't see anything French or European there; people simply wandered from one stall to the next, browsing or buying whatever the local vendors offered. We also visited the Dumbarton Oaks Gardens (paid and private garden) which located in very rich and residential area of Georgetown.
