点评:Originally the rail yard and maintenance shops for the Kennecot Copper Mine rail system and operations it is now run by a not-profit organization dedicated to the preservation of rolling stock, shops, knowledge and skills needed to keep the rail system operating. Docents and volunteers are helpful, excited to share their knowledge and are the life blood of this working museum. Classes are available for persons interested in becoming an engineer, brakeman, fireman, conductor and maintenance worker. They are truly keeping history alive.
There are a few excursion rides available. The "canyon" route is the most scenic. Some are with diesel engines and some with steam. I did the "ride in the cab" steam experience- just me, the engineer, Chris, and fireman, Tristan. They were great, shared their knowledge, focused on safety and enjoyment of the experience. This was a bucket list item for me and not available in many states.
