点评：I very much enjoyed my visit to this gallery. The main collection is varied and interesting but what really grabbed my attention is the current exhibition, 'Colour: the palette of S. J. Peploe'. I hadn't heard of this artist before, or of the wider group of Scottish Colourists, but I was impressed not only by the variety, skill and originality of the paintings but also by the way the exhibition was set up to aid understanding. Peploe painted many still-life paintings, often using the same props in different combinations. The exhibition included several of these near to each other for comparison, and also included an AI-generated video showing the painted items being added to the canvas, and then transformed into the 'real' objects. For those who don't like still-life painting, Peploe's work includes a wide variety of subjects and techniques, including both portraits and landscapes.
