点评:I visited this morning for an hour. What a wonderful place. There is no denying that when you visit Egypt as a tourist you see the majesty of ancient Egypt but you can’t avoid the dreadful pitiful state of the working horses, donkeys and the roaming street dogs. It’s heartbreaking.
This place provides a sanctuary for injured unwell animals that owners can bring and receive free treatment until health is restored.
I took a 15 minute taxi (500 return) from Sonesta St George, driver waited.
Once at the Hospital I had a tour by a lovely member of staff who showed me all the areas; where the resident cats and tortoises live harmoniously in a peaceful shaded garden. The various dogs who have been surrendered from previous owners, thankfully rather than being turfed out to become street dogs. The stable areas where the horses and donkeys receive rest, nutrition and medical input for some horrible needs, including lacerations and a gun shot!
They have an Education Room for owners and school children as unfortunately it can appear deeply ingrained poor practices in animal welfare.
Please take an hour out of your day to visit and of course donate, this place couldn’t run with kind and generous donations.
