A quaint castle that is well worth a visit.
唐津城的点评
点评：My wife and I visited Karatsu as part of a day trip from Fukuoka. We had already been to Itoshima in the morning.
The castle is smaller than other castles such as Osaka and Nagoya so the atmosphere was very casual. There were not many people there and there were no queues to get into the castle tower. Normally, I would not bother to enter the other castle's tower as the queues were too long. It is free to go in the grounds but there is an entrance fee of 500 yen per person to enter the tower.
The castle only had 5 levels. As is the norm in Japan, almost all the exhibits are in Japanese. However, with Google Lens, I could read every albeit with a bit more effort.
Once you get to the top level, you get a beautiful view of the surrounding town and countryside.
We only spent about one hour in the castle and the castle grounds but I think that is about right as my wife doesn't share my interest in history.
There was not a lot to do in the rest of Karatsu though so we decided to drive back to Fukuoka early.
