点评:Last year I had the opportunity to go to the legendary Koshien Stadium in Osaka and on top of that to see a Hanshin Tigers baseball game.
In the past I’ve been to the Tokyo Dome a couple of times and Meiji Jingu Stadium. This stadium had been on my “wish” list for a long time. This stadium was built in 1924 and is the equivalent of going to either Fenway Park or Wrigley Field in the U.S.A (both of which I’ve been fortunate to have visited).
On the day I went to Koshien Stadium the Tigers were hosting the Yakult Swallows for a 6pm evening game. My wife and I took the local subway to the game and there’s a station stop right at the stadium. We walked through an outdoor walkway leading to the stadium full of food, souvenir & activity booths. Very festive and lots of people.
I had purchased my game tickets in advance through Japanball Tickets which were delivered to my hotel in advance (very convenient online ordering service in English). Upon our arrival I showed my ticket to an usher and he escorted us to our seats. We had pretty good seats in the outfield between center and right fields.
We definitely had to try the food sold in the stadium which included a variety of Japanese food choices and even Kentucky Fried Chicken. All in all we had a great time…it was a great game between two popular teams, very festive and spirited crowd! If you’re a baseball fan seeing a Japanese baseball game is a must and seeing it at Koshien Stadium is the best option!
