点评：I just finished a week on Nomadic Waters' new yacht, the "Amazonian Bass Explorer," a luxurious mothership. The food was restaurant quality, a close second place out of over 50 destination fishing expeditions undertaken over the last forty years. Michael and Kristi Williams have assembled a great team, from guides to housekeeping staff and everyone in between. Their operations reflect a strong customer focus and best-in-class attention to detail. (Check out Nomadic Waters' website for an example: it's the best peacock bass fly fishing resource online. )
The fishing takes place over an area of roughly eighty miles by five miles, with the RioNegro fishing more like a swampy matrix of innumerable lagunas, sloughs and feeders than as a river per se. Our group probably averaged 15-20 peacocks landed per fly angler per day. The average size of the fish was smaller than I've experienced on other peacock rivers: the fish were skinnier than usual. I suspect this is a cyclical issue relating to prey abundance. Every day, a few anglers landed 10lb+ azu (temensis or three-bar peacocks), so there are brutes about. Our fishing also suffered from late dry season water levels that started out ten feet above normal for this time of year. I'm confident that the fishing experience in an average year would be even better.
While you will see other liveaboard operators, waters are so vast that we didn't feel crowded. A full bar, cocktail deck, Starlink satellite service and large screen TV were the icing on the cake.
