点评:Full disclosure: We wanted to stay in Canmore on the last day of our Banff/Jasper vacation, but we couldn't find a hotel room that wouldn't break the bank. So we decided to spend it in Calgary. We had heard that it was an underrated city but weren't sure how we could explore it.
So I googled free walking tours and found Walk the YYC. Walk the YYC arranged a last-minute free walking tour of Calgary on a Sunday for my husband and me. Rob, the tour guide, was excellent. For over two hours, he showed us his favorite places in downtown Calgary and gave us a sense of its history and culture.
I always try to find a 'free walking tour' in whatever city I visit. The tour guides like Rob show you the hidden gems and major attractions. By the end, you feel like you are ready to explore on your own. Rob's tour was no exception. After our walk ended, we ate lunch at one of the restaurants he recommended and then drove across town to the Bow Valley Foot Path and Prince Island Park, which he recommended Overall, we had an unexpectedly wonderful day in Calgary.
