点评:The overall experience is okay - the museum tour is free and it is interesting to hear about the history of gem mining in Sri Lanka. However do be aware it is a well thought out plan to get you to buy some gems/jewellery by the end of it as they take you to the showroom. This is where they make their money. It is a big established gem store where they will charge you a premium especially if you are a tourist. I bought an orange sapphire ring - gorgeous but I was worried it wasn’t real so we went to some gem testing labs after to check. I tried to make it as fair as possible by just showing the ring and not saying where we bought it. The testing facility did say they were real gems but they were heat treated to enhance colour and were worth £100 less than what we paid. I thought this would be the case since orange sapphires are very rare so it was quite a high mark up. I do feel cheated in this regard. Do your research before hand - ChatGPT was right with how much it actually costs so you could do your research and know how much you should be paying for the kind of gem you desire. Haggle it down and you’ll be okay - this is always the worry at these kind of places. You would be better off going to a smaller gem store as they have less premiums to pay ( shop rent, staff pay etc) . You can take this as an impartial review as we did a lot of research after the fact.
